Located in the Hocking Hills Rappelling Area, Big Spring Hollow is one of the area’s lesser-known waterfalls—but it’s absolutely worth the visit.

Standing at over 100 feet tall, this is the tallest waterfall in the Hocking Hills. After spring rains, you’ll hear it crashing long before it comes into view.

It’s a short, easy hike with a big payoff. The large rocks at the base of the falls are ideal for a peaceful picnic.

3. Sheick Hollow

Sheick Hollow is a hidden gem that feels completely removed from the rest of the world. This permit-only hike winds through creek crossings, towering cliffs, and a quiet hollow carved by water over time.

Push past the boulders near the end of the hollow, and you’ll be rewarded with one of the most beautiful and secluded waterfalls in the Hocking Hills.

Important tip:
A permit from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources is required—plan ahead. Little Rocky Hollow is another excellent nearby preserve.
